In its most basic summary, this bill would allow the federal government to cease funding going to public schools who use corporal punishment. This does not mean a) private schools or b) home schools. There are no penalties for "parents who are schooling a child at home as school personnel."

This bill was introduced by Alcee Hastings (D-FL) on January 3rd, 2017. It has been referred to a committee where they consider sending it to the House or Senate.
